Bread machine banana bread generally involves less work & steps than an oven-baked banana bread. A bread machine will mix the ingredients for you and bake the banana bread for you in the same machine. In contrast, an oven-baked banana bread involves more work & steps (i.e. you will need to mix the ingredients, pour into a bread pan and move to an oven).
This turned out delicious! Super Moist. Not overcooked; not dry; just perfect. I have a Cuisinart bread maker and didn’t have a “Quick Bread” button so I used the “Ultra Fast” setting and added 7 tbsp of water since I live in high altitude 7,100 ft (1 Tbsp/1,000 ft). The only thing that went wrong we’re the chocolate chips totally melted. Next time I will add them later in the “add cycle”. Thank you for sharing. Since the batter for quick bread doesn't require kneading and is best with minimal mixing, you may need to adjust the mixing setting. This is especially true if your bread machine doesn't have a program for quick bread. For example, some machines have a "dough" setting to mix and a separate "bake" setting. Mixing should require just 3 to 5 minutes.
Flour sticking to the sides of your bread machine banana bread? Unfortunately, bread machines have a harder time mixing moister quick bread recipes (versus drier sandwich bread dough). Therefore, after the first mixing cycle has fully stopped (and before the second & final mixing cycle has begun), I like to scrape the sides of the bread pan with a flexible silicon spatula (not a metal spatula). This loosens any flour that may be sticking to the sides of the bread pan (because a bread machine mixing “paddle” doesn’t quite reach the sides of the bread pan). For safety purposes, I do not scrape the sides of the bread pan when the mixing blade is moving. In addition, people should not stick their hands inside bread machines. Moreover, people should always wear oven mitts when dealing with a bread machine because the bread pan & bread machine interior can get quite hot.
I tried this yesterday and it turned out great! The next time I make I will add vanilla and walnuts it was a little bland..I think I needed another banana (mine were pretty small) and I did like another reviewer and put them in a plastic bag first and squished it up first this worked well..this recipe only took about 5 minutes to throw together and was by far the easiest way to make banana bread! Thanks Dee!
Please mash the ripe bananas with a fork before adding them to the bread pan. Ripe bananas are soft and are very easy to mash. Most bread machine paddles/mixers will not mash large banana chunks properly (just stirs them around) and the banana bread will not come out correctly if you have not mashed the bananas. Thanks Tom for pointing out the problem with large chunks!
However, oven-baked banana breads are a little more forgiving as you can stir more gently if needed (and thus less crushed fruit or shattered chocolate chips). In addition, oven-baked banana breads will not have a bread machine mixing paddle “hole” in the bottom. For oven-baked banana bread recipes, please visit our Easy Banana Bread Variations section.
If you are still having trouble finding the quick bread setting, check your bread machine manual for details regarding the cake setting on your machine. Some bread machines have a cake setting that states that they can be used for quick breads (and the mixing & baking will last roughly for 1 hour 40-50 minutes). However, other bread machines have a cake setting that is not designed for quick breads. For example, my bread machine (Sunbeam) has a cake setting (that lasts for 2 hours 50 minutes) and a quick bread setting (that lasts for 1 hour 40 minutes). Therefore, this recipe would probably not work well with the cake setting on my machine. I know this can be super confusing… but always read your bread machine manual and look for the specific setting designed for “quick breads” (that use baking soda/powder). zojirushi home bakery virtuoso breadmaker canada
Producing a successful loaf of bread is an exercise in chemistry and physics. As far as I can tell, successful results comes down to the controlling the mass of the ingredients, interaction between the active ingredients, and the time and wattage of the cooking cycle. Any variation from those specified (or unspecified) by the recipe’s author could result in a disappointing result.

OH MY GOODNESS! I cut the recipe in half as I only had one loaf pan. I will be buying another! As Hubby cannot have nuts any more, I replaced the walnuts with raisins that I plumped. He also requested icing on top; so, I used the recipe from Clone of a Cinnabon. Absolutely delicious. 5 STARS ALL THE WAY! Thank you MN Nice for sharing your recipe!! Read More

If you have a problem with a banana bread recipe, please make sure that you are following the recipe exactly. You will need to make sure that you are inputting the correct bread machine settings, using the exact ingredient measurements (i.e. don’t eyeball the measurements versus using a measuring cup), using the exact ingredients called for in the recipe (i.e. baking soda/powder versus yeast or all purpose flour versus bread flour), etc. Please don’t “wing” things with recipes unless you are willing to live with your experiments!
I added another egg and about 1/4 cup of olive oil and it came out awesome. I read some of the comments about it being dry. Tbh i thought reading the recipe they accidentally forgot to put oil on there. In all the other recipes i have done has about a 1/4 cup of either oil or softened butter. I added it anyways before venturing down to the comment sections when i put it in the machine.
Excellent! I could tell from the recipe that there would not be enough filling without the walnuts and since I planned to omit them I too doubled the cinnamon/sugar mixture. When baked and thickly sliced the texture of this bread is smooth and soft the sticky cinnamon-spicy sweetness oozes out and it creates the perfect ratio of bread to filling. The kids slathered their slices in homemade apple butter a friend gave us for Christmas but even plain this stuff is heavenly! Read More

I know I have a winning recipe on my hands when my husband and 3 year old start snacking on it as soon as its cool enough to handle and immediatly ask me to make it again soon. This bread turned out so well, just like a cinnamon roll in loaf form. I don't have a bread machine so I did have to adjust the directions for use in my stand mixer. I combined the white sugar and warm milk in my mixer bowl and added the yeast to proof. Once proofed I mixed in the eggs and softened butter until the butter was broken up into chunks and the eggs were mixed in. I then added the flour/salt that had already been mixed to combine. I let the dough hook do all the kneading and when finished I lightly oiled the bowl and the top of the dough, covered with plastic wrap and let it rise until doubled. From that point on I followed the recipe except for doubling the sugar/cinnamon part of the filling. I made one loaf with walnuts and one without since my husband isn't crazy about them. We can't wait to try this bread toasted tomorrow morning. The only change I'll make next time is to brush the dough with an egg wash before baking so it comes out nice and glossy. Highly recommend! Just to add some info I found interesting. When they call for using Quick Bread setting .. that is NOT Super Rapid cycle which is for breads with shorter rising times. However, you can use the Cake cycle which is used for NON - Yeast Breads. I am about to try a recipes that calls for all the same above ingredients except it has 1/3 melted butter and 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup nuts , 1/2 cup chocolate chips., only 2 Bananas. and 1/2 tsp salt. Hope it works.
Thank you for the recipe! I made the bread using bread flour in my cuisinart cbk-110. I followed the recipe as is except omitted walnuts. I also used ripe bananas. I feel that I could have used another banana or banana flavored syrup to give it more flavoring. Also, definitely going to double up on the chocolate chips. On the machine, instead of rapid cycle, I used “cake” program which goes just at 1hr 52 mins. I had to add another 30 mins. Cooled it on wire rack for 2 hours and it was still pretty warm on the inside. Made few slices of half of the loaf and 3 hours later, sliced the rest of the loaf. It wasn’t dry at all. If I double up on chocolate chips and add extra banana, do I need to make any changes to the recipe?
I used this recipe in the oven and not the bread machine and it turned out great. I mixed the bananas, egg, oil together, then added the sugar and baking soda/powder (mix very well to get slightly fluffy). (I usually use more than the suggested # of bananas, by at least 1/2 extra banana) Then added all that to a larger bowl with the flour and some cinnamon. Baked for 40ish minutes at 350-375 (depending on your oven). Took it out when the toothpick came out clean. I also added blueberries to the mix. Very tasty. Light and Fluffy.

I’ve tweaked my Banana Bread recipe with substitutions for oil (applesauce) and buttermilk (Greek Yogurt). The butter in this one gives me pause; have you ever substituted the fat content in bread machine recipes with applesauce or something else? I’d be curious how they turned out. I’m not sure my husband would be willing to let the bananas be Guinea pigs, so to speak. He buys bananas and purposely lets them go too ripe so I have to make banana bread, lol!
