Bread machine banana bread generally involves less work & steps than an oven-baked banana bread. A bread machine will mix the ingredients for you and bake the banana bread for you in the same machine. In contrast, an oven-baked banana bread involves more work & steps (i.e. you will need to mix the ingredients, pour into a bread pan and move to an oven).

This turned out delicious! Super Moist. Not overcooked; not dry; just perfect. I have a Cuisinart bread maker and didn’t have a “Quick Bread” button so I used the “Ultra Fast” setting and added 7 tbsp of water since I live in high altitude 7,100 ft (1 Tbsp/1,000 ft). The only thing that went wrong we’re the chocolate chips totally melted. Next time I will add them later in the “add cycle”. Thank you for sharing. iv tried this recipe twice and so far im loving it. infavt the second time i did it i doubled the amount yo get a bigger loaf. But i have to warn you if your bread mechine does not have a bake only function itz definitely a risk. my quick bread cycle was 2hrs 10min long.i had to add additional 20min bake time to it as the inside was still underbaked. Must must use extremely ripe bananas and iv noticed significant difference in the taste from the 2 loafs i did because of the banana. i live in a south east asia so we have so many types of banana and they all taste different. so getting the right banana does make a difference in the taste. but overall its a very very easy and tasty banana bread.! highly recommend.!

I have been throwing all my ripened bananas in the freezer now for well over 2 years. When I need to use banana, I just go to the freezer and pull out what I need. They thaw ridiculously fast and I think the texture of a frozen banana is so much easier to work with than a ripened banana that has not been frozen. I wish I would have known about this ten years ago. I have no idea how many bananas I have tossed in the garbage.

If you are preparing a banana bread treat for a brunch with friends, nowadays it’s best if you go gluten free, just in case. There is an increasing number of people that prefer to leave out gluten from their diet, and that is to be respected. In addition to that, may people now don’t consume animal products. Sometimes it’s because they have a specific dietary restriction, other times it’s because they rather not eat animal products.
I know I have a winning recipe on my hands when my husband and 3 year old start snacking on it as soon as its cool enough to handle and immediatly ask me to make it again soon. This bread turned out so well, just like a cinnamon roll in loaf form. I don't have a bread machine so I did have to adjust the directions for use in my stand mixer. I combined the white sugar and warm milk in my mixer bowl and added the yeast to proof. Once proofed I mixed in the eggs and softened butter until the butter was broken up into chunks and the eggs were mixed in. I then added the flour/salt that had already been mixed to combine. I let the dough hook do all the kneading and when finished I lightly oiled the bowl and the top of the dough, covered with plastic wrap and let it rise until doubled. From that point on I followed the recipe except for doubling the sugar/cinnamon part of the filling. I made one loaf with walnuts and one without since my husband isn't crazy about them. We can't wait to try this bread toasted tomorrow morning. The only change I'll make next time is to brush the dough with an egg wash before baking so it comes out nice and glossy. Highly recommend! If you have at least 4 pieces of leftover cinnamon-raisin bread, why not make French toast? In a shallow bowl, beat 2 eggs with 1/2 cup milk. Heat a frying pan with a little butter. Dip each slice into the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides of the bread. Place each slice in the heated pan. Cook for a couple of minutes, or until cooked and lightly toasted, and flip. Serve your French toast warm with slightly heated maple syrup.

If the top center of the bread looks too moist when you take it out of the bread machine, you can try the classic baking “toothpick test”. Gently push a toothpick/chopstick/skewer into the top of the bread and see if any batter sticks to the toothpick/chopstick/skewer. Make sure to wear oven gloves because the bread pan and bread machine will still be hot. If batter is sticking to the toothpick/chopstick/skewer then it hasn’t completely cooked. Place the bread loaf pan back into the still warm bread machine for another 5 minutes. After the 5 minutes, remove the bread pan and test the banana bread again with a toothpick/chopstick/skewer. FYI – Given variability in banana sizes, banana breads tend to have more moistness variability than many other recipes. Moreover, since most bread machines turn off automatically after a specified time and you can not adjust the baking temperature, they are little less flexible than ovens in dealing with baking “variances”. Thus the need to use the toothpick test if the banana bread top looks too moist (or you can skip the toothpick test and just leave the banana bread in the still warm bread machine for an extra 5 minutes if the top looks a little too moist).

Yes. Bread machine banana bread is a sweet quick bread. Quick breads are muffin-like “breads” made with baking soda and/or baking powder. Quick breads are not sandwich-type breads that use yeast to rise. Other sweet quick bread recipes that use a bread machine include cornbread and pumpkin bread. Banana bread is a quick bread recipe, which means you don't add yeast. Instead, baking powder and baking soda are the leavening agents used to cause a faster rise than required for yeasted bread. Using the bread machine makes for an almost completely hands-off process with very little mess: almost everything gets mixed right in the pan you bake it in.

Talk about your adventures in bread making! Next time I’ll know to look at my machine settings BEFORE I mix all the ingredients :)) My Oster does not have a Quick Bread setting. Taking the advice of another poster, I mixed the batter on the Basic setting for 5 minutes scraping the sides and as much of the bottom as I could. For some reason my Bake cycle would only set for one hour (I’m going to have to find a site with the instruction manual as it was lost in a move), so I Baked the bread for one hour. At this point I would recommend you test the bread for doneness with a skewer. I Baked it for another 10 minutes (using my kitchen timer since I had to set the machine for one hour) and the bottom and sides were almost too done. Also next time, I’ll remember to take the paddle out after mixing. Bread turned out delish with a cuppa, was going to share but maybe not 🙂 My chips did not melt, I wonder if the problem for the melted chips poster was with the chips themselves, and I did use bread flour.
I’m a little surprised so many people had a hard time with this or it didn’t turn out right for them. I’m fairly new to making bread, but I followed the recipe exactly (minus being a tad shy on walnuts), and I didn’t have any problems. I had a little “dust” on one end and side of the loaf where some dry ingredients didn’t get all the way mixed in, but it brushed off and didn’t seem to hurt anything. I didn’t necessarily LOVE this recipe, but it was good. It may just be my bread machine too, but this had a bit more of a crust to the outsides than what I would want on a banana bread. It was my first time making quick bread in my machine too though. That being said, the inside was soft and delicious. I didn’t have any problem with chocolate chips melting and getting mixed into the bread turning it brown like one person mentioned, and the banana taste was a tad mild, but definitely there, for me. I would make this again, but hope I can find a way to soften up the outside to make it more to my liking. It was really easy to make with these instructions though.
Banana bread may be served at tea time or at breakfast, although there is no rule as to when you may eat it. This banana bread recipe turns out really well in a bread maker and it's a great way to to get rid of overripe bananas sitting in the bowl. In our family nobody touches bananas if the skin has any sign of black. I guess we all worry that they are spoiled. So, rather than wasting them, into the bread maker they go.

I got a bread machine for Christmas and this is ALWAYS my go-to black banana recipe!! My quick bread setting is 1hr 43min so I make it the night before and it’s ready for breakfast in the morning. My kids are always thrilled. I do reduce the sugar to 1/3c and use half whole wheat flour (no walnuts) to try for a more wholesome recipe and it’s just as good!! <3

I made this yesterday. It came out perfectly. The only difference from the original recipe was that I used chocolate chunks instead of chocolate chips because it’s what I had in the house. I wouldn’t recommend it because they migrated to the edges. And I added 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. My wife doesn’t like bananas or walnuts and she loved it.
If you are still having trouble finding the quick bread setting, check your bread machine manual for details regarding the cake setting on your machine. Some bread machines have a cake setting that states that they can be used for quick breads (and the mixing & baking will last roughly for 1 hour 40-50 minutes). However, other bread machines have a cake setting that is not designed for quick breads. For example, my bread machine (Sunbeam) has a cake setting (that lasts for 2 hours 50 minutes) and a quick bread setting (that lasts for 1 hour 40 minutes). Therefore, this recipe would probably not work well with the cake setting on my machine. I know this can be super confusing… but always read your bread machine manual and look for the specific setting designed for “quick breads” (that use baking soda/powder).
Since the banana bread recipe on this page is done in a bread machine, it is simple & easy to make. It should take you only 10 minutes or so to prepare and then you let the bread machine do the rest of the work. For more bread machine recipes (i.e. white bread or pizza dough), please visit Bread Dad’s main Bread Machine Recipes section. Bread Dad also has a printable and “pin-able” recipe at the bottom of the page. If you like this recipe, we hope you will leave a comment below and give us a 5 star rating. Thanks!
Also be aware that some people go beyond just scraping the sides of the bread pan in order to avoid any leftover flour sticking to the sides of their finished banana bread. They will first mix all of the ingredients by hand in a mixing bowl and then add it to the bread machine bread pan (versus adding all of the ingredients to the bread pan and letting the bread machine mix everything). While this is an extra step, premixing the ingredients greatly reduces the potential for any unwanted small flour “clumps” and/or flour sticking to the sides of the finished banana bread. After hand mixing the ingredients, you should just follow the rest of the recipe instructions (i.e. enter proper bread machine settings and so on). However, always remember to add the ingredients (or hand mixed batter) to the bread pan when the bread pan is out of the bread machine and the bread machine is unplugged.

I cannot even remotely recommend this recipe. I followed it exactly, and the bread was just tasteless. The chocolate chips melted and just made the bread brown without adding any flavor. The banana taste was almost non-existent, if I had not seen myself add the bananas, I would not have guessed any bananas were in it. I took three bites, spit out the third and threw the entire loaf in the trash. There was no flavor at all in this! What a waste of good ingredients. Save yourself the trouble, time and expense and don’t try this.

This cinnamon bread is excellent. I followed the recipe ingredients but made rolls instead of a loaf and added raisins. I LOVE the filling so I doubled the ingredients to satisfy my sweet tooth and I'm glad I did because to my liking there was barely enough to cover both rectangles. I added 1 cup Thomson raisins, soaked for 30 min. in 1/4 cup brandy with a 1/4 tsp sugar sprinkled over them (kills the bitterness) stirring a few times to coat them evenly. The dough is great to work with and not sticky at all. When I sprinkled the raisins over the sugar mix I put a sheet of wax paper to cover it and ran the rolling pin over it lightly a few times to press the mixture into the dough (makes rolling it up easier and less filling leaks out). I rolled it up from the long end and sliced it into 1" pieces and popped them into Pam-sprayed muffin tins. I always brush my rolls with soft butter and sprinkle a little brown sugar over them, about 1/8 tsp on each (to keep some yummy, gooey syrup on the tops). It only took 15 min to turn golden with syrup spread over the tops.Even though I doubled the filling very little of it leaked out. I lifted each to a rack and while still warm I drizzled the tops with basic milk/icing sugar glaze. When they cooled I drizzled a 2nd layer of glaze over the tops as it will not soak into the roll and disappear. Then I ate 4 of them! My goodness, this beautiful bread makes accidental rolls a great mistake. Thank you MN Nice for sharing. Read More

Add the eggs, butter & bananas into the bread pan and then add the other ingredients. Try to follow the order of the ingredients listed above so that liquid ingredients are placed in the bread pan first and the dry ingredients second. Be aware that the bread pan should be removed from the bread machine before you start to add any ingredients. This helps to avoid spilling any material inside the bread machine. The bread machine should always be unplugged when removing the bread pan.

I used this recipe in the oven and not the bread machine and it turned out great. I mixed the bananas, egg, oil together, then added the sugar and baking soda/powder (mix very well to get slightly fluffy). (I usually use more than the suggested # of bananas, by at least 1/2 extra banana) Then added all that to a larger bowl with the flour and some cinnamon. Baked for 40ish minutes at 350-375 (depending on your oven). Took it out when the toothpick came out clean. I also added blueberries to the mix. Very tasty. Light and Fluffy. Read More

Same thing happened to my first loaf. I thought I had done something wrong. I suspect bread machines vary. Mine heats while the ingredients are mixing. I suspect that is why the chocolate chips melted. My loaf was underdone and caved in the middle. As if a hunk of mashed banana didn’t mix completely. I’m really assuming the castropy happened because of the bread machine. It did smell amazing while cooking. I wanted to throw my loaf out as well but hate wasting food. Simply; I gave it to someone else. Made it again the old fashioned way… In the oven. Better result.
