I cannot even remotely recommend this recipe. I followed it exactly, and the bread was just tasteless. The chocolate chips melted and just made the bread brown without adding any flavor. The banana taste was almost non-existent, if I had not seen myself add the bananas, I would not have guessed any bananas were in it. I took three bites, spit out the third and threw the entire loaf in the trash. There was no flavor at all in this! What a waste of good ingredients. Save yourself the trouble, time and expense and don’t try this.
If you have at least 4 pieces of leftover cinnamon-raisin bread, why not make French toast? In a shallow bowl, beat 2 eggs with 1/2 cup milk. Heat a frying pan with a little butter. Dip each slice into the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides of the bread. Place each slice in the heated pan. Cook for a couple of minutes, or until cooked and lightly toasted, and flip. Serve your French toast warm with slightly heated maple syrup.
Excellent! I could tell from the recipe that there would not be enough filling without the walnuts and since I planned to omit them I too doubled the cinnamon/sugar mixture. When baked and thickly sliced the texture of this bread is smooth and soft the sticky cinnamon-spicy sweetness oozes out and it creates the perfect ratio of bread to filling. The kids slathered their slices in homemade apple butter a friend gave us for Christmas but even plain this stuff is heavenly!

All bread machines are different, so it's very important to follow the manufacturer's instructions for the model you own in order to ensure success. Also, make sure the bread machine is ready to go before you start mixing. Once the wet and dry ingredients are combined in the pan, it needs to be mixed and baked right away. Many have a setting for quick bread, or some people use their machine's rapid bread program or manual settings. At the end of the cycle, you can always use a toothpick to check the doneness of your bread and bake it a little longer if it's not thoroughly baked. zojirushi home bakery virtuoso plus recipes

I got a bread machine for Christmas and this is ALWAYS my go-to black banana recipe!! My quick bread setting is 1hr 43min so I make it the night before and it’s ready for breakfast in the morning. My kids are always thrilled. I do reduce the sugar to 1/3c and use half whole wheat flour (no walnuts) to try for a more wholesome recipe and it’s just as good!! <3

Also be aware that some people go beyond just scraping the sides of the bread pan in order to avoid any leftover flour sticking to the sides of their finished banana bread. They will first mix all of the ingredients by hand in a mixing bowl and then add it to the bread machine bread pan (versus adding all of the ingredients to the bread pan and letting the bread machine mix everything). While this is an extra step, premixing the ingredients greatly reduces the potential for any unwanted small flour “clumps” and/or flour sticking to the sides of the finished banana bread. After hand mixing the ingredients, you should just follow the rest of the recipe instructions (i.e. enter proper bread machine settings and so on). However, always remember to add the ingredients (or hand mixed batter) to the bread pan when the bread pan is out of the bread machine and the bread machine is unplugged.zojirushi home bakery virtuoso plus breadmaker bb-pdc20
My spam filter might have caught your first message, Becca. Sorry you didn’t enjoy the recipe. I can’t make any sense of what might have happened. When you bake chocolate chips in a banana bread in the oven, the don’t melt and make the bread brown. You can see in my photo that mine did not do that in my bread machine either. Even if they did melt, how would all that chocolate flavour disappear? Also, I’m not sure how your bananas were flavourless. We quite enjoyed the recipe, and the above commenter (April) said it worked perfectly in her machine. Sorry it didn’t work for you. 🙁

I’m a little surprised so many people had a hard time with this or it didn’t turn out right for them. I’m fairly new to making bread, but I followed the recipe exactly (minus being a tad shy on walnuts), and I didn’t have any problems. I had a little “dust” on one end and side of the loaf where some dry ingredients didn’t get all the way mixed in, but it brushed off and didn’t seem to hurt anything. I didn’t necessarily LOVE this recipe, but it was good. It may just be my bread machine too, but this had a bit more of a crust to the outsides than what I would want on a banana bread. It was my first time making quick bread in my machine too though. That being said, the inside was soft and delicious. I didn’t have any problem with chocolate chips melting and getting mixed into the bread turning it brown like one person mentioned, and the banana taste was a tad mild, but definitely there, for me. I would make this again, but hope I can find a way to soften up the outside to make it more to my liking. It was really easy to make with these instructions though.
I have used this same recipe for years, except I use 3 Tablespoons of oil instead of the melted butter. I am going to try the butter once and see if I like it better. One thing for the person who thought the bread was tasteless is make sure you are using ripe bananas, the blacker the better! I have an Oster machine and it does not have a quick bread setting. What I do is use the dough setting and mix for 5 minutes using a rubber spatula to get the flour off the sides of the pan, and then press bake and bake it for about an hour and ten minutes.I then take the pan out of the machine and let the bread set for about 10 minutes before taking it out of the pan. I have made at least 100 loaves of this bread and everyone loves it!
In order to make bread machine banana bread, you need to use the Quick Bread setting. Don’t be fooled by setting names like Quick, Rapid or Express (as these settings are often used for very rapid baking and are not used for quick breads). Unfortunately, setting names can vary between bread machine manufacturers. Therefore, you must check your bread machine’s instructions/manual for the exact setting used for quick breads (i.e. banana bread) on your bread machine. However, be aware that some basic bread machines have only a very limited number of settings and may not have a quick bread setting.

Same thing happened to my first loaf. I thought I had done something wrong. I suspect bread machines vary. Mine heats while the ingredients are mixing. I suspect that is why the chocolate chips melted. My loaf was underdone and caved in the middle. As if a hunk of mashed banana didn’t mix completely. I’m really assuming the castropy happened because of the bread machine. It did smell amazing while cooking. I wanted to throw my loaf out as well but hate wasting food. Simply; I gave it to someone else. Made it again the old fashioned way… In the oven. Better result.zojirushi home bakery canada

This turned out delicious! Super Moist. Not overcooked; not dry; just perfect. I have a Cuisinart bread maker and didn’t have a “Quick Bread” button so I used the “Ultra Fast” setting and added 7 tbsp of water since I live in high altitude 7,100 ft (1 Tbsp/1,000 ft). The only thing that went wrong we’re the chocolate chips totally melted. Next time I will add them later in the “add cycle”. Thank you for sharing. Indescribably delicious! I usually make banana bread by hand, so I was a touch skeptical about using the bread machine, but it came out dense and golden and smelled wonderful while baking. I began with the recipe Dee provided, then I added an extra banana, 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon, a splash of vanilla, and in lieu of nuts, a heaping tbsp. of poppy seeds. I also added 4 oz. of plain applesauce (one of those individual cups). I used a Breadman Rapid Deluxe machine, which does not allow you to stop and then bake. Instead, I used the 1 pound setting and the "fruit/nut bread" option. It takes about 3 hours and 15 minutes to produce the loaf, but it mixes and stops and mixes and stops: the actual baking part is about an hour long. The banana bread had a more cakelike than breadlike texture (due to the addition of the applesauce) and was very dense, but oh so good! I love the ease and convenience of this recipe and I will use it often. A word of caution: use a rubber spatula to scrape the corners during the mixing phase to integrate all of the flour (be careful of the machine's mixing paddle), or some of the dry ingredients may get stuck in the corners of the pan. Enjoy!

If you have a problem with a banana bread recipe, please make sure that you are following the recipe exactly. You will need to make sure that you are inputting the correct bread machine settings, using the exact ingredient measurements (i.e. don’t eyeball the measurements versus using a measuring cup), using the exact ingredients called for in the recipe (i.e. baking soda/powder versus yeast or all purpose flour versus bread flour), etc. Please don’t “wing” things with recipes unless you are willing to live with your experiments!
iv tried this recipe twice and so far im loving it. infavt the second time i did it i doubled the amount yo get a bigger loaf. But i have to warn you if your bread mechine does not have a bake only function itz definitely a risk. my quick bread cycle was 2hrs 10min long.i had to add additional 20min bake time to it as the inside was still underbaked. Must must use extremely ripe bananas and iv noticed significant difference in the taste from the 2 loafs i did because of the banana. i live in a south east asia so we have so many types of banana and they all taste different. so getting the right banana does make a difference in the taste. but overall its a very very easy and tasty banana bread.! highly recommend.!

Homemade banana bread will last only 1 or 2 days on the counter (and it will spoil even faster in a hot & humid environment). After baking and when the banana bread is completely cooled, you can store it on the counter in a large resealable plastic bag or an airtight container. You can also place a paper towel around the bread in order to absorb any extra moisture.
Cinnamon raisin bread is a lightly sweet yeast bread scented with cinnamon and studded with plump dried fruit. It's especially delicious for breakfast spread with butter or cream cheese. By using a bread machine, it also frees you up to make other brunch dishes like an egg casserole. Leftovers are excellent toasted or turned into delicious cinnamon French toast, and this bread freezes well, too.

However, oven-baked banana breads are a little more forgiving as you can stir more gently if needed (and thus less crushed fruit or shattered chocolate chips). In addition, oven-baked banana breads will not have a bread machine mixing paddle “hole” in the bottom. For oven-baked banana bread recipes, please visit our Easy Banana Bread Variations section.
I feel bad for low-rating this recipe, because I did change it...I doubled the filling as others suggested, and used 1tsp of bread machine yeast as that was the conversion for instant yeast vs. active dry yeast. I'm not sure where I went wrong, but my dough didn't rise and I basically ended up with 2 cinnamon roll logs. They didn't taste terrible, but it would've been nice if they had some more air in them.
