Please mash the ripe bananas with a fork before adding them to the bread pan. Ripe bananas are soft and are very easy to mash. Most bread machine paddles/mixers will not mash large banana chunks properly (just stirs them around) and the banana bread will not come out correctly if you have not mashed the bananas. I wanted to try making it in the bread machine but my machine was not working on sweet bread so I took it back out and mixed it in a bowl, put it in a loaf pan and baked it in my toaster oven.I threw another batch together and added chocolate chips and put that in my convection oven. 350 in the toaster oven and 325 in the convection oven. approx 45 min. to an hour and it as done.

Banana bread may be served at tea time or at breakfast, although there is no rule as to when you may eat it. This banana bread recipe turns out really well in a bread maker and it's a great way to to get rid of overripe bananas sitting in the bowl. In our family nobody touches bananas if the skin has any sign of black. I guess we all worry that they are spoiled. So, rather than wasting them, into the bread maker they go.

This turned out delicious! Super Moist. Not overcooked; not dry; just perfect. I have a Cuisinart bread maker and didn’t have a “Quick Bread” button so I used the “Ultra Fast” setting and added 7 tbsp of water since I live in high altitude 7,100 ft (1 Tbsp/1,000 ft). The only thing that went wrong we’re the chocolate chips totally melted. Next time I will add them later in the “add cycle”. Thank you for sharing. My spam filter might have caught your first message, Becca. Sorry you didn’t enjoy the recipe. I can’t make any sense of what might have happened. When you bake chocolate chips in a banana bread in the oven, the don’t melt and make the bread brown. You can see in my photo that mine did not do that in my bread machine either. Even if they did melt, how would all that chocolate flavour disappear? Also, I’m not sure how your bananas were flavourless.
