This is a delicious and super easy way to bake banana bread. I used my Oster brand bread machine on the quick setting and it baked the bread perfectly. About halfway through the baking time I sprinkled some chocolate chips and nuts on top to make it look pretty. Next time I’m going to try using brown sugar instead. I think that would provide a bit of extra flavor and moisture to the loaf.

Add the eggs, butter & bananas into the bread pan and then add the other ingredients. Try to follow order of the ingredients listed above so that liquid ingredients are placed in the bread pan first and the dry ingredients second. Be aware that the bread pan should be removed from the bread machine before you start to add any ingredients. This helps to avoid spilling any material inside the bread machine. The bread machine should always be unplugged when removing the bread pan.

The instructions that came with my (gifted) Hamilton Beach machine included a mixing, kneading, cooking time chart for each setting. I searched and found that one or two other brands also had somewhat similar charts. But most of the machines I researched did not. So, there may be no way to compare settings, and no way to predict outcome from an incomplete bread machine recipe. I even tried to identify the machine used by this author (from the pix of his control panel) but I had no luck. So, I have no idea how the settings on his machine might compare with the settings on mine.

My spam filter might have caught your first message, Becca. Sorry you didn’t enjoy the recipe. I can’t make any sense of what might have happened. When you bake chocolate chips in a banana bread in the oven, the don’t melt and make the bread brown. You can see in my photo that mine did not do that in my bread machine either. Even if they did melt, how would all that chocolate flavour disappear? Also, I’m not sure how your bananas were flavourless. We quite enjoyed the recipe, and the above commenter (April) said it worked perfectly in her machine. Sorry it didn’t work for you. 🙁
Hi Marsha. Not necessarily – the Oster machines have special bread recipes for their ExpressBake (quick) cycles. Instead of no yeast you use Red Star Quick Rise yeast and actually ramp the amount of yeast way up for those cycles. (Like 2 tablespoons versus a more regular 2 teaspoons.) Never tried making bread that way because it requires buying a different type yeast just for those cycles.
I know I have a winning recipe on my hands when my husband and 3 year old start snacking on it as soon as its cool enough to handle and immediatly ask me to make it again soon. This bread turned out so well, just like a cinnamon roll in loaf form. I don't have a bread machine so I did have to adjust the directions for use in my stand mixer. I combined the white sugar and warm milk in my mixer bowl and added the yeast to proof. Once proofed I mixed in the eggs and softened butter until the butter was broken up into chunks and the eggs were mixed in. I then added the flour/salt that had already been mixed to combine. I let the dough hook do all the kneading and when finished I lightly oiled the bowl and the top of the dough, covered with plastic wrap and let it rise until doubled. From that point on I followed the recipe except for doubling the sugar/cinnamon part of the filling. I made one loaf with walnuts and one without since my husband isn't crazy about them. We can't wait to try this bread toasted tomorrow morning. The only change I'll make next time is to brush the dough with an egg wash before baking so it comes out nice and glossy. Highly recommend! Select the Dough setting, and press Start. Mix the bread for 3 to 5 minutes until the bananas are mashed and all ingredients are thoroughly combined. If necessary, use a rubber spatula to push the dough from the sides of the bread pan. When 3 to 5 minutes have passed on the clock display, press Stop. Do not continue mixing. Smooth out the top of the loaf with the rubber spatula.

Also be aware that some people go beyond just scraping the sides of the bread pan in order to avoid any leftover flour sticking to the sides of their finished banana bread. They will first mix all of the ingredients by hand in a mixing bowl and then add it to the bread machine bread pan (versus adding all of the ingredients to the bread pan and letting the bread machine mix everything). While this is an extra step, premixing the ingredients greatly reduces the potential for any unwanted small flour “clumps” and/or flour sticking to the sides of the finished banana bread. After hand mixing the ingredients, you should just follow the rest of the recipe instructions (i.e. enter proper bread machine settings and so on). However, always remember to add the ingredients (or hand mixed batter) to the bread pan when the bread pan is out of the bread machine and the bread machine is unplugged.
Cinnamon raisin bread is a lightly sweet yeast bread scented with cinnamon and studded with plump dried fruit. It's especially delicious for breakfast spread with butter or cream cheese. By using a bread machine, it also frees you up to make other brunch dishes like an egg casserole. Leftovers are excellent toasted or turned into delicious cinnamon French toast, and this bread freezes well, too.
In order to make bread machine banana bread, you need to use the Quick Bread setting. Don’t be fooled by setting names like Quick, Rapid or Express (as these settings are often used for very rapid baking and are not used for quick breads). Unfortunately, setting names can vary between bread machine manufacturers. Therefore, you must check your bread machine’s instructions/manual for the exact setting used for quick breads (i.e. banana bread) on your bread machine. However, be aware that some basic bread machines have only a very limited number of settings and may not have a quick bread setting.

I used this recipe in the oven and not the bread machine and it turned out great. I mixed the bananas, egg, oil together, then added the sugar and baking soda/powder (mix very well to get slightly fluffy). (I usually use more than the suggested # of bananas, by at least 1/2 extra banana) Then added all that to a larger bowl with the flour and some cinnamon. Baked for 40ish minutes at 350-375 (depending on your oven). Took it out when the toothpick came out clean. I also added blueberries to the mix. Very tasty. Light and Fluffy.

Producing a successful loaf of bread is an exercise in chemistry and physics. As far as I can tell, successful results comes down to the controlling the mass of the ingredients, interaction between the active ingredients, and the time and wattage of the cooking cycle. Any variation from those specified (or unspecified) by the recipe’s author could result in a disappointing result.

Indescribably delicious! I usually make banana bread by hand, so I was a touch skeptical about using the bread machine, but it came out dense and golden and smelled wonderful while baking. I began with the recipe Dee provided, then I added an extra banana, 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon, a splash of vanilla, and in lieu of nuts, a heaping tbsp. of poppy seeds. I also added 4 oz. of plain applesauce (one of those individual cups). I used a Breadman Rapid Deluxe machine, which does not allow you to stop and then bake. Instead, I used the 1 pound setting and the "fruit/nut bread" option. It takes about 3 hours and 15 minutes to produce the loaf, but it mixes and stops and mixes and stops: the actual baking part is about an hour long. The banana bread had a more cakelike than breadlike texture (due to the addition of the applesauce) and was very dense, but oh so good! I love the ease and convenience of this recipe and I will use it often. A word of caution: use a rubber spatula to scrape the corners during the mixing phase to integrate all of the flour (be careful of the machine's mixing paddle), or some of the dry ingredients may get stuck in the corners of the pan. Enjoy!
I got a bread machine for Christmas and this is ALWAYS my go-to black banana recipe!! My quick bread setting is 1hr 43min so I make it the night before and it’s ready for breakfast in the morning. My kids are always thrilled. I do reduce the sugar to 1/3c and use half whole wheat flour (no walnuts) to try for a more wholesome recipe and it’s just as good!! <3

All bread machines are different, so it's very important to follow the manufacturer's instructions for the model you own in order to ensure success. Also, make sure the bread machine is ready to go before you start mixing. Once the wet and dry ingredients are combined in the pan, it needs to be mixed and baked right away. Many have a setting for quick bread, or some people use their machine's rapid bread program or manual settings. At the end of the cycle, you can always use a toothpick to check the doneness of your bread and bake it a little longer if it's not thoroughly baked.
Since the banana bread recipe on this page is done in a bread machine, it is simple & easy to make. It should take you only 10 minutes or so to prepare and then you let the bread machine do the rest of the work. For more bread machine recipes (i.e. white bread or pizza dough), please visit Bread Dad’s main Bread Machine Recipes section. Bread Dad also has a printable and “pin-able” recipe at the bottom of the page. If you like this recipe, we hope you will leave a comment below and give us a 5 star rating. Thanks!
iv tried this recipe twice and so far im loving it. infavt the second time i did it i doubled the amount yo get a bigger loaf. But i have to warn you if your bread mechine does not have a bake only function itz definitely a risk. my quick bread cycle was 2hrs 10min long.i had to add additional 20min bake time to it as the inside was still underbaked. Must must use extremely ripe bananas and iv noticed significant difference in the taste from the 2 loafs i did because of the banana. i live in a south east asia so we have so many types of banana and they all taste different. so getting the right banana does make a difference in the taste. but overall its a very very easy and tasty banana bread.! highly recommend.!

This turned out delicious! Super Moist. Not overcooked; not dry; just perfect. I have a Cuisinart bread maker and didn’t have a “Quick Bread” button so I used the “Ultra Fast” setting and added 7 tbsp of water since I live in high altitude 7,100 ft (1 Tbsp/1,000 ft). The only thing that went wrong we’re the chocolate chips totally melted. Next time I will add them later in the “add cycle”. Thank you for sharing. Please share anymore favorite bread machine recipes.

I’m SO happy with this recipe. Have tried others that didn’t cook all the way through. But this turned out fluffy and moist! My substitutions worked out great- packed brown sugar and Bob’s Red Mill 1 to 1 Gluten Free baking flour. I was nervous about not using bread flour but it turned out wonderfully on the cake setting for 1:40. Will be making again! Only thing I’ll slightly tweak next time is opening up my bread machine during mixing to scrape some of the flour off the sides to make sure it all incorporates since I had a little bit of flour on the sides of the bread. Not a big deal at all though, still very tasty! Thank you.

I added another egg and about 1/4 cup of olive oil and it came out awesome. I read some of the comments about it being dry. Tbh i thought reading the recipe they accidentally forgot to put oil on there. In all the other recipes i have done has about a 1/4 cup of either oil or softened butter. I added it anyways before venturing down to the comment sections when i put it in the machine.

I feel bad for low-rating this recipe, because I did change it...I doubled the filling as others suggested, and used 1tsp of bread machine yeast as that was the conversion for instant yeast vs. active dry yeast. I'm not sure where I went wrong, but my dough didn't rise and I basically ended up with 2 cinnamon roll logs. They didn't taste terrible, but it would've been nice if they had some more air in them. If you are still having trouble finding the quick bread setting, check your bread machine manual for details regarding the cake setting on your machine. Some bread machines have a cake setting that states that they can be used for quick breads (and the mixing & baking will last roughly for 1 hour 40-50 minutes). However, other bread machines have a cake setting that is not designed for quick breads. For example, my bread machine (Sunbeam) has a cake setting (that lasts for 2 hours 50 minutes) and a quick bread setting (that lasts for 1 hour 40 minutes). Therefore, this recipe would probably not work well with the cake setting on my machine. I know this can be super confusing… but always read your bread machine manual and look for the specific setting designed for “quick breads” (that use baking soda/powder).

If you have a problem with a banana bread recipe, please make sure that you are following the recipe exactly. You will need to make sure that you are inputting the correct bread machine settings, using the exact ingredient measurements (i.e. don’t eyeball the measurements versus using a measuring cup), using the exact ingredients called for in the recipe (i.e. baking soda/powder versus yeast or all purpose flour versus bread flour), etc. Please don’t “wing” things with recipes unless you are willing to live with your experiments!
Making this right now in my Hamilton Beach model# 29882 machine. Luckily I was watching as it starting mixing because the egg/banana/milk slurry was just spinning in the center while most of the flour was staying put on the edges! I helped it along with a rubber spatula and it mixed just fine, but seems awfully wet. The baking cycle is beginning now… Fingeres crossed!
The only thing I did was sub the butter for the oil. When I first start making recipes with my bread machine, I did a little research and everything I could get my hands on said to use oil instead of butter (save the butter for the outside when you are eating it–not the inside when you are cooking it) and the reasons for it (can’t recall the reasons listed, but they made sense and I remembered the mantra!). I do use bread flour though.

Banana bread is a quick bread recipe, which means you don't add yeast. Instead, baking powder and baking soda are the leavening agents used to cause a faster rise than required for yeasted bread. Using the bread machine makes for an almost completely hands-off process with very little mess: almost everything gets mixed right in the pan you bake it in.

Select Sweet and Light settings on your machine and add raisins as per your manufacturer’s instructions. They can be added in with everything else. Start your bread machine. After the first kneading cycle is over, the bread should be smooth and stretchy. It should feel dry when you touch it. If necessary, add flour by the tablespoon to adjust the bread.

For long-term storage, you should freeze the banana bread. It should be completely wrapped in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and then placed in a resealable plastic bag. Place the wrapped banana bread in the freezer and it should last for several months. FYI – Some people prefer to slice the banana bread first (and then wrap each slice) before freezing because it is easier to thaw out the desired number of slices versus dealing with an entire frozen banana bread loaf.

When the bread machine has finished baking the bread, unplug the bread machine, remove the bread pan and place it on a wooden cutting board. Let the bread stay within the bread loaf container for 10 minutes before you remove it from the bread loaf container. Use oven mitts when removing the bread machine container (bread loaf pan) because it will be very hot!
